Important School Policies

Parents/Guardians – It is vital that you review the following school-wide policies with your child(ren) to ensure they have an understanding of each policy, the expectations and the consequences, to both them and you.

WCD/Cell Phone Policy

Wireless Communication Device (WCD) Policy

Due to the new state legislation (CS/HB 379) and updated policies from our district office regarding WCD – Anclote High School has a clear wireless communication device (WCD) policy in effect.

What are considered WCD? This includes but it not limited to: cell phones, ipads, ipods, ear buds, head phones, air pods, laptops, PCs, video games consoles, hand held gaming devices, etc.

When can we use our WCD? Students are able and encouraged to use their WCD (cell phones, ear buds, etc) during their lunch break and while in passing periods. During these time, the students have the ability to take a quick break and listen to the music as they walk to their next class, text a friend to meet them at their favorite lunch table, or check in with mom and dad.

Upon entering the classroom, ALL devices must be put on silent, sleep or off mode and remain in the student’s backpack during the entire instructional period (Bell Schedule); this includes if the student is in the halls for any reason during any class period (restroom break, called to office, getting water, etc)

Consequences of violating the WCD policy will be strictly implemented and can lead to confiscation of devices with parent pick up required.

Tardy Policy

The Importance of Punctuality

Being on time is a vital part of student success. Arriving promptly to class helps students maximize learning, build responsibility, and show respect for their peers and teachers. Punctuality sets the tone for a productive day and reinforces the importance of commitment and accountability.

To support a culture of timeliness, our school follows a progressive discipline policy for repeated tardiness:

First Tardy: The student will receive a verbal warning, expectations will be reiterated, and a minor infraction report will be sent to parents.
Second Tardy: The student will be assigned lunch detention.
Third Tardy and Beyond: Discipline Instructional Assistants (IAs) and Administration will assign the student to additional behavioral lunches. Continued infractions will result in progressive disciplinary actions, which may include but are not limited to:
- Parent contact
- Referrals
- After-school detention
- Saturday detention
- Other alternatives to suspension

Attendance Policy

Supporting Your Child’s Attendance—Together

We believe that strong attendance is essential to student success—and we’re here to support you every step of the way. That’s why we’ve implemented fair and consistent attendance practices across all schools, so every student is treated equitably, and every family knows what to expect.

Please note: ALL absences will need to be reported via your myStudentParent Portal within the 3 days of your student being absent for review and approval.

To submit an absence:

Log in to your myStudent Parent Portal.
Navigate to the Forms section.
Complete and submit the Absence Reporting Form for approval.

What Constitutes an Excused Absence? While some absences are unavoidable, we ask that families limit them to those that are excused and necessary, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Please note: Pasco County Schools will allow limited Excused medical absences without documentation. After five parent-reported medical absences without documentation, a note from a healthcare provider will be required for future absences to be marked as excused.

Please review the Parent/Guardian Attendance Handbook provided by the district that will provide additional information regarding the new attendance initiative and procedures for 2025-2026 school year.

Please Note: Any student who has been identified as having excessive absences (5 absences within 30 days/15 within 90) may be subject to lose of privileges. The Loss of Privileges includes, but is not limited to:

1. State Competitions
2. FBLA Competitions
3. Pep Rallies
4. Homecoming
5. Prom
6. Band, Robotics, and Drama Competition
7. In addition, if a student currently drives to school and parks on campus that privilege will be revoked for a period of not less than one month.
8. If a student requests a media pass during lunch the student will be denied until such a time as they are removed from the Loss of Privilege list.
9. ANY SRA not covered above
10. Student athletes on the Loss of Privilege List will forfeit their participation unless they enter into a contract with their coach.

Dress Code Policy

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

We are striving to provide a learning atmosphere that helps guide the youth at Anclote High School into becoming engaged, successful, reputable, professionals for our future work force and marketplace.

Below is a clear diagram of the most up-to-date dress code policy flier. For more specifics, please read pages 32-34 in the Student Code of Conduct handbook. Students in violation of Dress Code will be required to change into appropriate clothing. Repeat offenders will receive a call home to parent/guardian and may result in a school appropriate change of clothes required to be dropped off to the student immediately.
