Tardy Policy
What is a tardy?
A tardy occurs when a student is not physically inside the classroom door when the tardy bell rings.
Do tardies reset?
Yes, at the beginning of each quarter.
What are the consequences for tardies?
- 6th Tardy:
- Loss of all in-school incentives and all after-school events
- Extra-curricular participants: Placed on probation and removed from 1 game or meeting/event
- 10th Tardy:
- Student will be escorted when leaving class for any reason
- Extra-curricular participants: Removed from the team or organization
- 1P – Discipline Referral for Failure to Comply with School Rules
Dress Code
Where is the dress code policy located?
On the GMS website and in the District Student Code of Conduct.
What are the consequences for dress code violations?
- Student will be required to change into appropriate clothing, contacting the parent/guardian as needed.
- Student may be required to remain in the front office until the above condition is met, per principal or designee discretion.
- May receive a discipline referral and consequences as appropriate for repeated breaches of the policy.
Wireless Communication Devices (WCD)
Wireless devices must remain in silent mode and completely out of view for the entire school day, including passing periods and lunches.
Classroom teachers may provide a cell phone storage area in their classroom.
These expectations also apply to extracurricular and co-curricular activities that occur before or after the school day.
What are the consequences for inappropriate use of a WCD?
- 1st Offense:
Device held in main office until school dismissal; parent/guardian contacted by main office. - 2nd Offense:
Device held in main office and released to parent/guardian. - 3rd Offense:
Device held in main office and released to parent/guardian;
2E referral written; device checked in and out for 1 week. - 4th Offense:
Device held in main office and released to parent/guardian;
2E referral written; device checked in and out for 2 weeks. - 5th Offense:
Device held in main office and released to parent/guardian;
2E referral written; device checked in and out for the remainder of the semester.
Refusal to turn in your device when requested will result in 1 day of OSS for each infraction.
Common Area Consequences
Students who have phones out in their hands and/or headphones/AirPods in their ears will have them taken and held in the main office. The above consequences continuum will be followed.
